The admin account offers increased team and group management functionality. Find more details in the general introduction to groups.
Admins can see some changes in their account interface. There are two new tabs named Users and Groups. You will not see these tabs if you are subscribed to the DeepL Pro Individual or API Free plan.
Below, find an overview of some of the main improvements.
Managing groups
Group: A group defines access to one (or more) subscriptions. Users can be part of one or several groups. By being part of a group, a user is entitled to a license from the subscriptions linked to that group. Find more details in this article about creating groups.
Groups tab: This tab initially shows at least one group. The default group always shows on top and is labelled Default. Find out more about the special role of the default group in this article. Your subscription is already linked to that group.
Group invitation: For teams with DeepL credential access, team members can either be invited to groups directly, or a group invitation link can be created and shared. Find more details about the invitation links in this article.
API Pro subscriptions cannot be linked to groups.
Managing users
Users tab: This tab shows all team members and detailed information about e.g. their group membership, assigned licenses and invitation status. There are enhanced options for managing and filtering users. Find details about the Users tab in this article.
Add users: On this dialog the team admin can add users to groups. This will entitle the users to licenses from the subscriptions linked to the group.
-
For teams with DeepL credential access: Adding a user who is not yet part of the team to a group will trigger an invitation email.
Find details about inviting team members in this article. - For teams with SSO access without group synch: Adding a user will place them into that group. Find details about managing SSO users in this article.
- For teams with SSO access with group synch: The group membership is configured on the identity provider application and reflected in the DeepL account when the users log in. Find details about managing SSO users in this article.
License assignment and product access
- There is no limit to the number of users that can be added to a group. Even if there is a shortage of licenses, users can still join the team with an invitation link or via SSO, but will not be assigned a license when logging in.
- Team members without a license for either Translator or Write can be prevented from using the free versions of DeepL Translator or Write while they are logged in. Free version access is enabled by default after subscription creation. An admin can disable access to the free versions on the Settings tab. Find more details in this article.
- If a team admin does not need product access, they can be removed from all groups. Find details about setting up an admin without a license in this article.
API subscriptions
The additional tabs Users and Groups appear in your account. You can invite additional admins, find details in this article.
- All admins are admins of the API keys and the Admin API keys
-
An API Pro subscription cannot be linked to any group
This means e.g. the subscription never appears in the Users tab or the Groups tab. You cannot filter users by subscription. - In an account with an API Free subscription the tabs Users and Groups do not appear.
