Is it possible to integrate DeepL into Microsoft PowerPoint?
Yes, with our add-in, you can use DeepL directly in your PowerPoint files. The add-in allows you to translate your slides into all supported languages or improve your texts, with AI-powered spelling, grammar, and style corrections.

Set up DeepL in Microsoft PowerPoint for the web
Before getting started, you'll need to add DeepL to Microsoft PowerPoint for web as follows:
- Go to the Home tab and click on Add-ins in the toolbar
- Go to More Add-ins and type "DeepL" in the search bar
- Get the DeepL add-in for PowerPoint by clicking Add
Alternatively, you can find the add-in here.
Note: For Microsoft admins, we also offer the option to deploy DeepL for PowerPoint to either a specific group or throughout their entire organization. More information about this option can be found here.
After you've added it, you need to set it up. To do so:
- Go back to the Home tab and click the three dots on the right side of the toolbar
- Under DeepL, click Open DeepL
- A new window will open on the right side of the page
- Click Get started
A new window will ask you to log in with your DeepL account or sign up for one. Please note that you need a DeepL account to use the DeepL add-in for PowerPoint.
To log in, click the Login button. You'll be asked to confirm that DeepL is allowed to open a new window. Click Allow and enter your credentials in the new window.
You can now start translating and improving your texts.
Set up DeepL in your Microsoft PowerPoint desktop app
To add DeepL to your Microsoft PowerPoint desktop app:

For Mac: Go to the Home tab and under Add-ins click More Add-ins
For Windows: Go to the File tab and click Get Add-ins - You will be forwarded to the Microsoft Add-in store
- Type "DeepL" in the search bar
- Add DeepL for PowerPoint by clicking Get it now
You'll find the add-in in the Home tab, on the right side of the toolbar. Alternatively, you can find it via My Add-ins under Add-ins.

- Click Open DeepL
- A new window will open on the right side of the screen
- Click Get started

To log in, click the login button and enter your credentials in the new window.
You can now start translating and improving your texts.
Translate text in Microsoft PowerPoint with DeepL Translator
To translate text directly in PowerPoint:
- Click the Translator button at the top of the DeepL window
- Choose the language you would like to translate into
- Select the text you would like to translate
The translation will automatically be displayed on the right side, in the DeepL window.
You can now replace the original text with its translation. To do so, click the Replace text with translation button under the translation.
Alternatively, you can copy the translation to your clipboard by clicking the Copy icon in the lower right corner of the window.
The language of your original text will be automatically detected and displayed right above the translated text. You can also change the original language of your text by clicking the detected language. A dropdown menu will open allowing you to change the language.
Please note that the Translator in the DeepL add-in does not support the following features yet:

Apply a glossary
If you have a DeepL Pro subscription, you also have the option to apply a glossary to your translations in PowerPoint. To do so, click on the glossary icon in the DeepL window and select the glossary you would like to apply.
Note: You can't create, change or delete glossaries in DeepL for PowerPoint. To manage your glossaries, click on Edit glossary. You will be forwarded to the web translator, where you can make changes to your glossaries.
Set the tone
In addition, you can also apply different tones to your translations for languages supported by the formal/informal feature. Click on the formality icon in the DeepL window and select the tone you would like to apply:
- Formal tone
- Informal tone
- Automatic
Note: The formal/informal feature is only available for DeepL Pro subscribers.
Improve text in Microsoft PowerPoint with DeepL Write
With the DeepL add-in for PowerPoint, you can not only translate text, but also improve it using DeepL Write. DeepL Write corrects spelling and grammar mistakes, as well as adapts the overall style of your text.
To improve your texts directly in PowerPoint:
- Click the Write button at the top of the DeepL window
- Select the text you'd like to improve
The improved version will automatically be displayed in the DeepL window on the right side.
You also have the option to replace the original text with the improved version. To do so, click the Replace text with improvement button under the improved text.
The language of your original text will be detected automatically and displayed right above the improved text. You can also change the original language of your text by clicking the detected language. A dropdown menu will open allowing you to change the language.
Please note that this feature currently only works for English and German.
The Write function of the DeepL add-in does not support the following features yet:

Change the style and tone
When using the Write function, you can also adjust the writing style and tone of your improved version. To do so:
- Click on Style
- Select a style and/or tone for your text
- Click on Apply
Your text will be rewritten in the selected style and tone. To remove the applied style or tone, click on Style again and select Reset.
