The glossary generator allows you to quickly and easily generate their own glossaries based on previous translations. With just a few clicks, you can upload previously translated files. The glossary generator extracts potential translation rules to collect in a new glossary you can use in DeepL.

To achieve the best possible results when generating a new glossary, we recommend using translated files with very high quality. if your files are translated via machine translation, we recommend to have them reviewed by a human editor.

Supported file formats

You can create new glossaries with the glossary generator from the following file types:

  • .docx
  • .pdf
  • .tmx (Translation Memory eXchange)
  • .tsv
  • .csv
The .tmx file format is used in the translation industry to store and exchange translation memories. Translation memories contain previously translated text pairs that can be reused.

 

Limitations

There are glossary limits depending on your plan type. More information about glossary limits can be found here.

You can upload up to three .tmx/.tsv/.csv files or three pairs of .docx/.pdf files (original text and its translation) at a time. Your batch of files shouldn't exceed 1 GB in total.
