With the file translation feature you can translate single images into all supported DeepL languages.
After uploading a file, DeepL extracts all text from the image, translates it and embeds it back into the image. You will receive a fully translated image after downloading the file.
To only extract text from an image to translate it, e.g. a screenshot, use the screen capture feature in the DeepL desktop apps or browser extensions. Learn more about the screen capture feature in this article.
Images that are part of other documents, such as PDF files, will not be translated when the document is uploaded for translation. You can instead translate the image via the file translation feature and then paste it back into the translated document.

The DeepL desktop apps offer another way of translating text within images via the screen capture feature. This feature allows you to extract text from a screenshot and translate it via the text translation function in the desktop app. It is distinct from whole image translations via the file translation feature.
Troubleshooting
I tried to translate an image, but the results came out scrambled.
The resolution of the image can impact the translation quality. We recommend a minimum resolution of 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) for best results.
I translated a file that contains images, but they were not translated.
You can only translate single image files with the file translation feature. Images that are part of other documents, e.g. a PPTX file, will not be translated.
I translated an image, but I can't see it in my account under Usage.
During the Beta phase, translations of PNG and JPEG files don't count against your monthly file translation threshold. They will also not be shown in your usage overview in your account or in the team analytics for admins.
