Prerequisites
- DeepL AI connectors are enabled for your team. Reach out to your team admin to enable DeepL usage in AI assistants or to create an agent in Microsoft Copilot. For more information, see this article.
- A Microsoft Copilot Studio license
- Generative orchestration is enabled on your agent (default)
- Organization policies apply: MCP connections in Copilot Studio go through Power Platform connectors. Therefore, your organization’s data loss prevention (DLP) policies apply and may block the connection. Contact your Microsoft admin if you cannot add the connector.
Create an agent for DeepL in Microsoft Copilot Studio
Depending on your Microsoft Copilot product, Microsoft Copilot Studio users must first create an agent that connects to the DeepL MCP server. Follow the instructions below to create the agent. Then, you can select the agent to connect. If you cannot add a custom agent and do not see a DeepL agent in the list, contact your Copilot admin. For more information, see this article.
Create a blank agent
- Open Copilot Studio
- Click Create blank agent and enter a name for the agent, e.g. DeepL
Add DeepL as a tool
- In the agent, go to Tools

Select Add a tool | New tool | Model Context Protocol
The MCP onboarding wizard will start. - Enter the following information
- Server name: DeepL
- Server description: Translates and rephrases text between languages using DeepL. It supports glossaries, writing styles, and tones.

Enter the server URL:
https://mcp.deepl.com/v1/mcp - Select the authentication method: Select OAuth 2.0, then Dynamic discovery as the type
Add the connection
- Click Create. Copilot Studio generates a connector for DeepL and the Add tool dialog appears
- Under Connection, click on Not connected
- Select Create a new connection and click Create
- Log in with your DeepL account in the window that opens and click Allow
- Once the connection shows as connected, select Add
Test the agent
- Click on Test in your agent
- Click on the three dots for more options.
- Click Manage connections and verify that the DeepL connection is listed as Connected. If not, connect to the DeepL MCP server.

Connect DeepL to Microsoft Copilot
To connect to DeepL via the agent an admin created earlier, follow these steps:
- Search for the DeepL custom agent that was previously added and published
- Install and connect to the agent.
The DeepL login page will open, allowing you to authenticate.
