DeepL AI connectors let AI assistants, such as chat interfaces, agents, and coding assistants, connect directly to your DeepL account. This allows you to use DeepL without leaving the AI assistant. The AI assistant can then use DeepL's capabilities via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) within your AI assistant session. The MCP is an open standard that allows AI assistants to connect to external tools and data sources in a standardized way.
Once connected, an AI assistant can use your DeepL account to do the following:
- Translate text in all languages supported by DeepL. Translate your text into up to 10 languages simultaneously.
-
Translate documents and images while keeping the formatting. Translate your files into up to 10 languages simultaneously. DeepL's AI connectors currently support the following file formats. For more information about file limits, see this article.

Connect your AI assistant to DeepL
DeepL certified connectors are available for the following AI assistants. Follow the instruction in the linked articles to connect.
Other AI assistants that support remote MCP servers can connect to DeepL via the URL: https://mcp.deepl.com/v1/mcp.
If your organization uses a firewall or proxy, ensure that mcp.deepl.com is allowed within your organization. Otherwise, the AI assistant won’t be able to connect to DeepL. Contact your organization's admin if you have trouble connecting your AI assistant to DeepL.
If you want to integrate DeepL into your workflows, agents, and automations, visit the developer's portal.
Use the DeepL AI connector
Once connected, use one of the following example prompts in your AI assistant to trigger a translation or rephrasing with DeepL.
- Translate:
- Translate this email into Japanese using our company glossary
- Translate this announcement into German, French, and Japanese
- Rephrase: Rephrase this paragraph in a more formal tone
- Check: Check this text for spelling and grammar mistakes
- Translate document: Translate the attached PowerPoint into German
- Edit customizations: Add "customer account" → "Kundenkonto" to our English–German support glossary
Use the free version of DeepL with your AI assistant
The same limits apply to file translations, translation requests, and rephrasing requests as when using DeepL via the web.
If you want to translate or rephrase more, or if you want to use glossaries, style rules, or custom instructions, a paid plan is required.
