Improve text with the browser extensions

With the DeepL browser extensions, you can improve your written text on various websites or in DeepL integrations that support this feature. Download the DeepL browser extension here.

DeepL checks grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

You can improve text in any language supported by DeepL Write. 

1. Type your text in a text editor in your browser (e.g., your email application)
2. Click the floating pen icon  that appears in the text area
3. A window will open, where you can view the improved text
4. (Optional) Apply a style or tone
5. (Optional) Select alternate phrases under Alternatives
6. Click Replace in field

The source language of your text will be detected automatically. You can change it in the language dropdown menu on the left-hand side of the window.

Select styles and tones

You can choose between different styles and tones while using DeepL Write in the browser extension to customize your improve text. Learn more about writing styles and tones in this article.

To change the style or tone of your text, do the following:

1. Highlight the text you want to improve and click on the floating pen icon  that appears in the text area
2. Go to the Write tab and click on the dropdown menu on the right hand side of the window
3. Select a style or tone for your text
4. Click Apply

The new style or tone will also be applied to all displayed alternative texts.
