Participants can consume meeting translations in two ways: Live subtitles (real-time captions on screen) or Voice to voice (translated speech audio).
Licensing requirements depend on which method your team uses.
Live subtitles
License: Only 1 license per meeting.
Who needs it: The Translation Manager (the person who connects the meeting).
Participants: Can read translated captions without a license, DeepL account, or subscription.
Voice to voice
License: 1 license per listener.
Who needs it: Every participant who wants to hear translated audio. To hear translated speech, a participant must have both:
- The DeepL Voice Desktop App installed
- An eligible Voice license (Voice Starter, Voice Business, or Voice for Meetings Business)
How minutes are billed
All minutes used during Voice to voice translated audio are deducted directly from the Translation Manager’s included plan minutes.
