You need to have Trados Studio 2022 or higher installed with an active license. In addition, you will need your personal authentication key to use DeepL Pro with Trados Studio. This key can be found on the Account tab of your DeepL account.
There are several ways to use the DeepL plug-in:
- Pre-translate automatically
- Translate single files
- Create a new project

1. Download plugin
To download the DeepL plug-in for Trados Studio:
- Open the RWS AppStore and log in to your account
- Search for "DeepL" and select the DeepL Translation Provider plugin
- Click Download
- Select the plugin and save the file
- Open the file, once downloaded
Follow the steps in the on-screen wizard to complete the installation.
2. Set up a project
- Run Trados Studio and create a new project
- Navigate to the Translation Memory and Automated Translation page
- Select Use… and choose DeepL MT Translation Provider from the list
- Enter your Authentication Key (this may be referred to as an "API Key")
- Click OK
- Finish creating the project
- Open the translation file and start translating with DeepL Pro
3. Use DeepL in Trados Studio
Located above the first segment to translate, the Translation Results window will show the automatic translations from DeepL, which you can use and edit directly in the target language segment.
As soon as you move to the next open segment, the plugin will quickly and automatically suggest a translation in the Translation Results window.
These translations will be saved in your translation memories for future use.
