As part of the DeepL Translation Flow, you can send out a review request for your translated PDF or DOCX file to another member of your team.
The reviewer can make changes to the translated text, add comments and update a translation memory, if one has been used for the translation.
The file needs to be stored via the Storage option before the translation to send it out for review. Learn more about the storage of files in this article.
Invite a team member for review
- Upload a file for translation in the file translation section
- Enable the Storage option in the toolbar
- After the translation, click Invite to review
- In the new window, enter the email address of the reviewer
- Optional: Enter more context about the translation in the Message text box
- Click Invite
The reviewer will be notified via email about the review request. The email will also contain a link to the editable version of the stored file.

Roles for request review feature
Owner
The user that translated the file. The owner is the only role that can request a review of a file translation. They can edit the translated file, when it is not in review and leave comments within the editing view at any time.
Reviewer
The team member that was assigned a review of a file translation by the owner. The reviewer can leave comments and edit the translation. The reviewer can also mark a translation as reviewed.
Review a file translation
Reviewer will receive a notification via email, once the owner of a file requests a review.
To review a file, do the following:
- Click the link in the notification email to access the translated file
- In the file, go through each segment to review the text
- Optional: Use the Preview option to view a preview of the translated file
- Click Complete review to end the review

You can also leave comments for the owner of the file. They will get notified once a new comment has been added to the translated file.
When editing a translated file, the following features are not supported:
If a translation memory has been applied to the translation, all edits made to translated segments that have a translation memory match will be updated. This way you can capture edit directly within the editing view for the applied translation memory.
Updating a translation memory via the review is only possible, if the reviewer has editing access for the applied translation memory.
