How can I invite a new user to join my team?
If you are a team administrator, you can invite a new user to join your team at any time, if there is a spare license.
This article helps you to learn more about:
- Inviting new users: invitation mail
- Inviting new users: invitation link
- Troubleshooting: error "Login failed"
- Troubleshooting: error "You are already a member of team"
Inviting new users: invitation mail
- Open the Team tab and click on Invite members, under Your team
- Enter the email address of the new user you want to add
- Click on Send invitation
The user will receive an email with a link to create a personal DeepL account and join the team.
Important: if you have SSO enabled for your team, this option won't be available. To invite new users to your team subscription:
- Share the SSO domain of your company with them
- Make sure they have been given the correct access rights in your identity provider
Inviting new users: invitation link
- Open the Settings tab and under Invitation link click on Edit
- Click on the toggle switch to enable the invitation link
- An invitation link will be generated once you click on Save
You can copy the link and send it to the user(s) you'd like to invite.
In the same dialog, you can allow users with any email address or only users with email addresses from a specific domain to use the invitation link. Just enter the desired domain in the provided field.
If you need to generate a new invitation link, switch the toggle off and switch it on again. A new link will be generated.
Troubleshooting: error "Login failed"
This error may occur if the invited user already has a DeepL account, but hasn't joined another team subscription. They can still join a team subscription by following these steps:
- Log out from your existing DeepL account
- Click the link in the invitation email
- In the Join team window, enter the password they set for their existing DeepL account
Please note: If these users enter a new password (instead of the password they set for their existing account), an error will occur, which reads "Login failed".
If a user has forgotten their password, follow the instructions in this article. Repeat the process described above after the old password has been reset.
Troubleshooting: error "You are already a member of team."
This error occurs when a user cannot join a team subscription because they are still a member of an inactive team subscription.
Users who have a DeepL account that is part of an inactive team subscription will see the following message in their account: "The team account is currently deactivated. You cannot use DeepL Pro as part of this team at the moment."
To join a new team subscription, they should:
- Log in to their DeepL account
- Under Account > Team membership, click on Leave team
- Confirm by clicking Leave team and log out
- Click the link in the invitation email for the new team
- In the Join team dialog, enter their email address and the password they set for their already existing DeepL account
- Click the Create account button.
