What is a log file and how can I get it?
A log file is a file that records events that occur as the software runs.
If your DeepL for Windows / DeepL for Mac app doesn't work as expected, please attach your log file when contacting DeepL Support. It will help our technical team understand the issue better and solve it faster.
Below, you can learn how to export your log file, depending on your operating system.
For Windows:
To export the log file, please follow this route:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\DeepL_SE\logs
To access the folder of the current user (C:\Users\[USERNAME] in the route above), please do the following:
- Open File Explorer (you can also use the shortcut Win+E)
- Type %USERPROFILE%
- Press Enter
If the folder AppData is hidden, please make it visible:
- Open File Explorer (you can also use the shortcut Win+E)
- Go to your user folder
- Go to the View tab
- Tick the option Hidden items
The folder AppData should be visible now, and you should be able to find the folder AppData\Local\DeepL_SE\logs.
Please download the file DeepL.log and attach it to your request.
For Mac:
While using the desktop app, you can find the menu bar at the top of the screen.
To export your log file, click on the dropdown menu Help and then on Export log file. Please attach it to your request.
