Can I translate text from documents via the mobile apps?

For iOS

Yes, you can extract text from files for translation with the DeepL for iOS app. Currently, this feature is only supported for the following UTI types: PDF, plaintext, html.

To translate text from files, please follow the steps below:

  • Open the mobile app and select the languages.

  • Tap the Document button IMG_0041.png beneath the source text field.

  • Choose a file.

  • The text from your file will be inserted into the source text field and translated into the language of your choice.

Please note that for free users it is possible to translate up to 5,000 characters per translation via the iOS app.

At the moment, the feature only supports the following source languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Ukrainian.

If a supported language for this feature is not available in your app, please make sure that you have the latest app version installed. You can update your app via the App Store.

Please note that translations of small, badly lit, handwritten, or stylized text may not be accurate.

For Android
