Can I use DeepL Pro or DeepL Write Pro in the browser extensions?
Yes, it is possible to use your DeepL Pro or DeepL Write Pro plan in the DeepL browser extensions for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox by logging in to your DeepL account.
Functions covered by your plan
Depending on your plan, your benefits in the browser extension might vary and only cover certain functions:
- DeepL Pro Starter/Advanced/Ultimate: Only covers translation functions
- DeepL Write Pro: Only covers text improvement functions
- Bundles: Cover both translation and improvement functions
In the extension settings, a shield icon will mark functions covered by your plan. This will give you full access to all their corresponding features, as well as maximum data security while using them.
If a function doesn't have a shield assigned, it's not included in your plan. This means that certain features (e.g., full-page translation) may not be available and the amount of characters you can translate or improve is limited. You also won't benefit from increased data security.
If you are using DeepL as part of a team plan, please note that your team admin might restrict the use of the free version of DeepL Write. Please contact your team admin to find out more.
Logging in to the browser extensions
To use your plan and its benefits, you need to log in with your DeepL account in your browser extension. If you have pinned the extension to your toolbar, click the DeepL icon next to the extension icon:

If you haven't pinned the extension to your toolbar, you can click the extension icon. A dropdown menu of all your extensions will open. Here, click DeepL: AI translator & writing assistant.
Click Log in and you will be forwarded to a login page. Here, enter your email and password and click Log in.
If your team admin has enabled SSO login for your team, you can click on Continue with SSO to log in.
After logging in, you'll see the green account icon in the upper right corner of your extension.
