Where can I use the glossary feature?
You can use the glossary feature for text translations in the web translator and the DeepL for Windows / Mac app. DeepL also supports this functionality in API requests.
The glossary feature is supported for document translations in the API, our desktop apps and in the web translator.
The glossary feature is also not supported on the mobile apps and the browser extensions.

For DeepL Pro Starter subscribers
Your glossary entries are stored in your DeepL account, so they can be used in another browser or on another device when you are logged in.
For DeepL Pro Advanced and Ultimate subscribers
You can create glossaries manually or upload glossaries via the DeepL website and DeepL desktop apps. Your glossary entries are stored in your DeepL account, so they can be used in another browser or on another device when you are logged in.
If you use DeepL Pro within your CAT tool, please note that the provider of the CAT tool is responsible for updating the plug-in. DeepL supports this functionality, but your CAT tool provider might require some time to implement this.
Please note that glossaries created via the DeepL website and DeepL desktop apps are distinct from the glossaries within your CAT tool. This means that these glossaries cannot be used within your CAT tool and vice versa.
For more information on the use of DeepL glossaries within your CAT tool, please contact your CAT tool provider.
For DeepL API Free and DeepL API Pro subscribers
You can create glossaries with your DeepL API (Free and Pro) subscription. Please consult this article and our API documentation to learn how you can manage glossaries with the DeepL API.
If you use the DeepL API (Free and Pro) in third-party software, please note that plug-ins are not developed by DeepL SE. DeepL supports glossary functionality via the API, but your plug-in provider might require some time to implement this functionality in their plug-in. For more information, please contact the provider of your plug-in.
