The saved translations feature allows users to manually save translations for later review or reuse. With this feature, you and your team can save time and effort when accessing translations on the web and in the DeepL for Windows app.
More information about the saved translations feature in general can be found here.
Activate or deactivate the feature as team admin
The saved translations feature allows DeepL Pro users to manually save their translated texts via the web translator and DeepL for Windows app. These translations will be stored securely by DeepL.
If you are a team administrator of a DeepL Pro team subscription, you have the option to activate or deactivate the saved translation feature for web and for the DeepL for Windows app from your account at any time.
Usually, the feature will be enabled by default for your team.
To disable the feature, do the following:
- Log in to your account and navigate to the Settings tab
- Go to Cloud saving under Security
- Click to disable the toggle switch
- A new window will appear informing you that all saved translations will be deleted if you disable the feature
- Click Disable and delete
The toggle will turn grey and the feature will be deactivated for all team members.
After you disabled the feature, the recently saved translation section will no longer be displayed on the Home pages of your organization.
To enable the feature, do the following:
- Log in to your account
- In the Settings tab go to Cloud saving
- Click to activate the toggle switch
The toggle switch will turn green and you and your team will be able to use the saved translations feature on the web and in the DeepL for Windows app.
Data security of saved translations
If you are a DeepL Pro user, your saved translations in the web translator and DeepL for Windows app are encrypted and stored securely by DeepL.
Any texts and their translations saved by Pro users with the saved translation feature will never be used to train the DeepL language models.
Translations are only stored by DeepL if they are manually saved by users while using the saved translations feature in the web translator or DeepL for Windows app. DeepL won't store any data without the user's consent.
Translations saved in the DeepL for Mac app and mobile apps are stored locally on the user's device and are distinct from the saved translations in the web translator and DeepL for Windows app. More information about the data security of saved translations on the apps can be found here.
Features that automatically save translations (such as the translation history feature) don't store the translations on our servers, but locally on the user's device.
If a DeepL Pro user deletes a saved translation, it will also be immediately deleted from our servers. Team administrators can also delete the saved translations of team members by deactivating the feature.
Once deleted, a saved translation can't be recovered.
Use the saved translations feature as a team member
If you are using DeepL Translator as part of a team, your team administrator might need to enable the saved translations feature on the web translator and the DeepL for Windows app for your team first.
Reach out to your team administrator to activate this feature for your team.
